The Express Network Dial-up settings.

First we need to find a phone number. Here at xprs.net we have multiple networks. Our Home network which is available through-out California and our Roaming network which is available through-out the United States and beyond. We appreciate you using our Home network if you live within California only use the Roaming network if you are traveling, live out of state, or if there is a temporary outage, very rare, of our Home network.

If you live or are traveling outside California, or if for some reason our Home network is down then go

here and find a number.

Now that we have the phone number please write it down call your operator and confirm that it is a local call for you. We can't be responsible not knowing your telephone plan on insuring that it is a local call only your operator can verify this.

Before we get started configuring your computer to dial into xprs.net you will need the following.

  1. The number from above to dial into.
  2. Your username that you gave us when you signed up.
  3. The password which matches the username you gave us at signup.

Now Scroll down to find your Operating System.

 

Configuring Windows XP to connect to xprs.net Dialup services

From the Start menu, select All Programs then Accessories then Communications then the

New connection wizard

you get a Welcome to the network connection wizard page ... click Next

  1. Select Connect to the Internet and then click Next.
  2. Select Set up my connection manually and then click Next.
  3. Select Connect using a dial-up modem and then click Next.
  4. Type xprs as your ISP name and then click Next.
  5. Type a 7 digit phone that you got above as the phone number and then click Next.
  6. enter your username@xprs.net  type your password in and confirm password at this screen.
  7. Click Next. If you would like to add a shortcut on the desktop, select the option Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop.
  8. Click Finish.

 

 

Configuring Windows basic Vista to connect to xprs.net Dialup services

Manual setup - To set up a dial-up connection manually, Click on the Start button and in the box directly above it that reads "Start Search", type "Internet Options" without the quotations and press the enter key on your keyboard. From Internet Properties, click on the "Connections" tab, then click on the "Add" button on the right side. Select "Dial Up" from the list and it will take you to another menu.

The first Option asks for your "Dial-up phone number" Insert the number you received at the top of this page

Then you will need to fill out the "Username:"  is your username@xprs.net and "Password:" fields with the information you signed up with if you are using our accelerated service then put in the username field username@highspeed.

After this, you can enter in a "Connection name:" and we suggest you use "xprs" without the quotations.

If you have the checkbox to "Allow other people to use this connection" and you want the other people around your computer be able to use this connection we suggest you place a check mark in the the box also.

Once you've finished with all of this hit the "Connect" button to continue and if you wish to skip the test connection please click on the "Skip" button that is now located down at the bottom. If you've chosen to "Skip" the test connection it will show a screen saying that "The Internet connectivity test was unsuccessful" and you will need to choose "Set up the connection anyway". You can now click on the close button and your Internet connection is now complete.
