DSL Support

Installation.

DSL is pretty much plug and play. If you qualify for DSL the next step is to figure how many telephone's, fax machine's, alarm system's are currently on the line that you qualified. Each one of these will need a filter, Our basic modem comes with 3 filters. If you need more they are available for $3.00 each. Make sure you tell the person taking the order, or if you are ordering online you can order extras. Wall phone's generally need a special kind of filter which we also stock you can call us at 1-800-817-3133 to add these to your install.

We use several different types of modems the basic modem can only handle one computer, you need a router to set up multiple machine's on one DSL connection. There are routers available at your local computer store, we also have a dsl wireless router which is capable of setting up to 4 wired machine's and many wireless machines, generally laptops. The wireless router basically will turn your house into a small hotspot where any laptops or computers Wi-Fi can access the Internet from anywhere inside your house or outside on your deck.

Our basic modem is plugged into the existing phone line, filters

are plugged into any lines with phones and you just need to turn on your computer and modem. There are LED's one for the connection to the WAN or DSL line, one for the connection from your computer to the modem or LAN.  A quick call to us to make sure we can see your modem, Tell who ever answers to do an ATM channel ping. Then we can tell if your circuit is working. You might need to open up Internet Explorer go to Tools/Internet/options click on connections and choose never dial a connection. This will keep your old dial-up window from popping open. Even our wireless router modem should be plug and play right out of the box enabling you to hook up multiple computers as well as any laptops that are Wi-Fi enabled to connect. On the bottom of the wireless modem is the encryption key you need to use like a password to connect to the wireless network.
